What decides feasibility
Material alone is never the whole answer.
Base material & existing coatings
Stainless steel, silver, brass, copper and other suitable metals require different preparation. PVD-coated parts are not accepted. Lacquered or unknown older coatings can also prevent a standard gold-plating process.
Geometry & accessibility
Edges, deep recesses, moving parts and inaccessible areas influence whether a uniform and controlled result can be achieved.
Use & mechanical wear
A display object needs a different layer reserve from a frequently touched or mechanically stressed component.
Desired visual effect
High gloss, satin, relief, existing texture and the desired 14k, 18k or 24k yellow-gold tone must fit the object and the technical build.

Layer build
Durability and colour are two different decisions.
Where technically suitable, the hard-gold layer provides the wear reserve. The final colour-gold layer determines the visible yellow-gold tone.

Not every special case is a good case
We reject projects that do not offer a reliable basis.
Typical exclusion factors
Aluminum, titanium, die-cast zinc and PVD-coated parts are not accepted as standard gold-plating orders. Lacquered surfaces, unsuitable non-metals and severe unknown damage are also exclusion factors. If the material is unclear, send photos first and we will tell you whether the project can be assessed further.

Common questions about custom gilding.
Can I send a custom object without a quote?
No. Start with photos and basic information. The project should be assessed and quoted before anything is sent in for work.
Can small series be quoted?
Yes, if the parts are technically comparable and suitable. Quantity, dimensions, material and desired finish should be stated from the start.
What if I do not know the material?
Send clear photos of the object, the back and any markings. If the material cannot be reliably inferred from that, we will tell you which information is still needed.
Is every custom object suitable for 5 µm?
No. Geometry, material, surface and intended use determine whether a thicker hard-gold build is technically sensible and economically appropriate.
