Before treatment, the coin surface appeared oxidized and dull. After gold plating, the relief looks calmer and more refined while the characteristic embossing remains visually intact. For coins and medals, we assess relief, condition and desired appearance particularly carefully before treatment.

Before treatment, the watch part showed visible corrosion and an uneven surface. After controlled refinishing and gold plating, the surface looks consistent and refined again. For watch parts, material, geometry and fully disassembled condition determine which layer structure is technically appropriate.

Before treatment, the brass surface was uneven and marked by patina. Refinishing followed by gold plating creates a calm, consistent gold appearance again. For brass objects, we pay particular attention to existing coatings, corrosion, accessibility and intended future use.

How long does gold plating last?

Durability depends on use, friction and layer thickness. For jewelry exposed to heavier wear, we recommend more durable 3 µm or 5 µm hard-gold layers.

Is return shipping insured?

Yes. Insured value shipping is available for the return on request. The appropriate shipping solution is agreed individually with you.

Can scratches be removed?

Before gold plating, surfaces are refinished, polished or prepared according to their condition so the new gold layer can achieve a clean result.

Which materials can be gold plated?

Suitable stainless steel, silver, brass, copper and many jewelry and watch parts can be gold plated after prior technical assessment.

THE GOLD DNA

Hard gold plating & jewelry refinishing in Germany

LAFFARTS finishes technically suitable jewelry, disassembled watch parts and selected metal objects. Depending on use, defined hard-gold layers of 1, 3 or 5 µm are available; the final visible gold tone can be selected in 14, 18 or 24 carat yellow gold .

REFINISH & REPLATE JEWELRY

Before replating, the surface is cleaned, prepared and, where appropriate, polished according to its condition and material. Suitable stainless-steel, silver, brass or copper parts can be finished after technical assessment. Material-specific barrier and adhesion layers support a stable layer structure.

WATCH CASES & BRACELETS

We work on watch cases and metal watch bracelets only when fully disassembled. Movements, crystals and seals must not be included. Material, existing coating and geometry are assessed in advance; partial plating and watchmaker services such as disassembly, sealing or repair are not part of the gold-plating service.

EMBLEMS & SPECIAL OBJECTS

New or near-new emblems and selected metal objects are technically assessed before work begins. Existing chrome or older coatings may need to be removed or prepared depending on their structure. Corroded, unknown or problematic coatings are not approved automatically.

DEFINED LAYER THICKNESSES

Intended use determines the appropriate layer thickness: 1 µm for occasional use, 3 µm for regular use and 5 µm for intensive use with a greater wear reserve. Every enquiry is assessed for material, surface condition and feasibility before work begins.

MATERIAL ASSESSMENT

Before approval, we assess the base material, existing coatings, condition and geometry.

Stainless steel: suitable jewelry and fully disassembled watch cases and bracelets.
Silver: suitable rings, chains, bracelets, pendants and other jewelry parts.
Brass / copper / bronze: after technical assessment and according to the specific layer structure.
Chrome-plated parts: only after assessment of condition, geometry and existing coating.
Not accepted in the standard process: aluminum, titanium, die-cast zinc and PVD-coated parts. Lacquered parts also require exclusion or prior removal outside the standard service.
