How long does gold plating on a watch last?

As a rough guideline with careful use, this is approximately 1 year per µm (e.g., 3 µm ≈ 2–3 years of regular wear). For watches worn daily and subject to heavy wear, this may be less; for display cases or collectibles, it may be significantly longer. Use our durability calculator for your individual scenario.

Does the water resistance remain?
We do not coat sealing surfaces. The housing will only be opened by appointment. Pressure testing is available as an option. Ask a question .
What layer thickness do you recommend?
Display case/collector: 1 µm . Regular wear: 3 µm . Daily wear/heavy use: 5 µm . Calculate individually
Which parts are not gold-plated?
Threads, sealing surfaces, bearings, spring bars, and functional fits remain untouched. We retain logos and serial numbers.
