Tips for storing gold-plated jewelry
Proper storage of your gold-plated jewelry is crucial to preserving its shine and longevity. Here are some detailed tips to help you:
Separate storage
Store each piece of jewelry separately to avoid scratches and friction. Use small jewelry pouches, soft cloths, or separate compartments in a jewelry box. These measures prevent the pieces from damaging each other.
Use of jewelry boxes
A jewelry box with a soft interior lining and separate compartments is ideal for storing gold-plated jewelry. Make sure the jewelry box is made of materials that don't absorb moisture to prevent corrosion. Jewelry boxes also offer additional protection against dust and scratches.
Avoid direct sunlight
Store your gold-plated jewelry in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. UV rays can fade the gold plating over time. A dark cabinet or drawer is therefore the perfect storage location.
Protection against moisture
Moisture can damage gold plating, so avoid storing your jewelry in humid rooms like the bathroom. A small silica gel pouch in your jewelry box can help absorb moisture and keep the pieces dry.
Regular checking
Check your jewelry regularly for signs of wear or damage. This helps you take early action and maintain your jewelry's condition. Regular inspections can ensure your gold-plated pieces always remain in top condition.
Additional information
- Avoid storing gold-plated jewelry in plastic bags, as these can trap moisture and damage the gold plating.
- Make sure the storage location is not too hot or too cold, as extreme temperatures can affect the material.
- Keep your jewelry away from chemicals and cleaning products to protect the gold plating.
Summary
Proper storage of gold-plated jewelry is essential to preserving its beauty and longevity. By following these tips, you can ensure your gold-plated pieces shine and remain in excellent condition for many years to come.
Gentle cleaning
To maintain the shine of your gold-plated jewelry, clean it regularly with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners or chemical solutions, as these can damage the gold plating. A soft jewelry cleaning cloth is ideal for maintenance.
Avoiding chemicals
Avoid contact of your gold-plated jewelry with perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and other cosmetics. Apply these products before putting on your jewelry and allow them to absorb completely to prevent damage to the gold plating.
Protection against scratches
To avoid scratches, only put on your jewelry after you've gotten dressed. Remove your jewelry before activities that could cause scratches, such as exercising or gardening. Store your jewelry separately to prevent rubbing against each other.
Avoid water and moisture
If your jewelry is made of copper or brass, remove your gold-plated jewelry before showering, swimming, or washing your hands. Water and moisture can damage the gold plating and shorten its lifespan. Sweat can also affect the gold plating, so it's advisable to remove your jewelry before strenuous physical activity.
Regular inspection
Check your gold-plated jewelry regularly for wear and damage. If necessary, you can contact us for a refresh or repair. This will help preserve the shine and beauty of your jewelry.
These care instructions will help you preserve the beauty and longevity of your gold-plated jewelry. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

FAQ
Gold plating is a finishing process in which a thin layer of real gold is applied to the surface of a piece of jewelry.
In our workshop, we use electroplating , a high-precision electrochemical process. The piece of jewelry is immersed in a special gold bath and treated with an electric current, causing gold ions to adhere evenly to the surface. The result is a flawless, long-lasting gold layer that lends your jewelry a new shine and elegance.
We gold plate almost all types of jewelry, including:
• Rings
• Chains
• Earrings
• Bracelets
• Watch case
• Brooches and more.
If you are unsure whether your piece of jewelry can be gold-plated or if you cannot find it pre-made for you here, please contact us in advance with a photo.
You can choose between the following gold tones:
• 14 carat yellow gold: Classic and subtle.
• 18 carat yellow gold: Noble, intense tone.
• 24 carat yellow gold: Pure, deep golden yellow.
• 18-carat rose gold: Warm, elegant rose tone.
We gold-plate jewelry made from:
• Silver and gold
• Stainless steel
• Brass
• Copper
• Palladium and platinum
We would be happy to check the feasibility of other materials.
The durability of your gold plating depends largely on the layer thickness, the material and the care:
• 2-3 microns: Suitable for occasionally worn jewelry.
• 5-6 microns: Ideal for jewelry that is used regularly.
With proper care, gold plating can last for many years. Avoid direct contact with chemicals or excessive moisture to maximize its lifespan.
